The Ship Inn is situated in a prime position on Swanage high street and has views overlooking Swanage Bay. Swanage is approximately 6 miles south of Poole and 25 miles east of Dorchester, and has a population of approximately 9,600. The town is located at the eastern end of the Isle of Purbeck and is a popular tourist destination with award-winning sandy beaches. It is located at the beginning of the World Heritage Jurassic coastline which is very popular with walkers and tourists.

The town is home to many galleries, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and shops as well as the historic Swanage Steam Railway which runs through the picturesque Purbeck countryside. There are many activities to enjoy in Swanage and the surrounding areas such as diving, fishing, boat trips, paddle boarding and climbing. Tourists can also enjoy a day cruise from Poole quay to Swanage pier, which adds to the town’s high local footfall.

The Ship Inn comprises a ground floor lock-up in a Grade II listed, 18th century building which is of Purbeck stone construction with rendered finish under a pitched slate roof.
