Features and description
The market town of Llanidloes stands in the Upper Severn Valley in reservoir country between the mountain ranges of Snowdonia and the Cambrians. It can be found just off the A470 trans Wales trunk route. The area attracts many visitors throughout the year particularly those attracted to country pursuits with renowned Glyndwr Way which in conjunction with Offa’s Dyke Path forms a 116 mile circular route around Mid Wales. It is the first town standing on the River Severn and just to the north is the Clywedog Reservoir.
The town itself is a bustling community with a population of just over 3000. It is a Medieval settlement with an interesting main square and a market hall which the subject property, the Unicorn Hotel, stands opposite. It is an historic property which is Grade II listed and which stands in a run of character buildings of Georgian style. Although the Unicorn does have a Victorian glazed double fronted entrance to one side, it was historically a coaching inn as can be seen by the arch to the property’s right. Some four years ago it was subject to a major investment resulting in its conversion into the quite outstanding boutique hotel which is now offered for sale.
In addition to its character lounge and restaurant there are six/seven high quality letting bedrooms, two of which are suites and the reference to the seventh bedroom is because the owners separate and independent apartment has been utilised for commercial purposes over the last couple of years.
