Occupying a plot of circa 3,608 sqft (335.2sqm) the property was originally built in the 1856-7 by Charles Malings the British and Oriental Racquet Manufacturer creating what were 'warranted as the best racquets to stand Indian climate' and lawn tennis balls.
Slazenger and Son took over the factory in 1896 manufacturing their famous tennis balls which were exclusively used at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships from 1902.
Slazenger vacated the building in the 1940's and the building was renamed 'Textile House' manufacturing shoulder pads. Other uses ensued from the 1960's into the 1980's when the Edwardian block was converted to offices as the Woodrow Business Centre and finally converted into a single-family home in circa 1998.
The building is listed under the Royal Greenwich Local Heritage List and is located within the Woolwich Common conservation area.
