This remarkable Grade II Listed conversion artfully incorporates the traditional elements present in the original barn. The first-floor living space boasts impressive vaulted beamed ceilings, often becoming a notable conversation piece. The layout, unique in placing bedrooms at ground level, offers a distinctive touch, and the thoughtful design is evident in the full-height doors that lead from the main bedroom to the landscaped rear garden.

Vendor Interview

Home buyers can look around a dozen properties before they find one that is instantly, instinctively the right one. So it was with us when we found the Corner Barn over ten years ago. We loved the location: Hedged fields and hills in all directions with the Black Mountains in the background; endless lanes for walking with the Brecon - Monmouth canal just minutes away yet only a short distance from the A40.
The Corner Barn is full of character. It’s part of a Grade 2 listed building converted from a barn built in 1824. The kitchen-dining hall and sitting room are upstairs and we loved at first sight their high beamed ceilings as the conversion is on two floors not three. We soon installed a wood burning stove. Downstairs the main bedroom has a floor to ceiling window looking over the garden. The two bathrooms, like all the interiors, have a high degree of finish.
We realised this at first glance. What took us ten years was to develop the garden with hedges, fruit (truncated)

Walk Inside

You enter through a glazed door into a spacious entrance hall, featuring a beamed ceiling and marble tiled floor. From here you can walk through to the south-west facing garden, while immediately on the right as you enter is an ideal space for hanging coats etc. The layout of the property is ‘upside down’ with the bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor. The generous master suite begins with a dressing area, offering ample space for wardrobes and featuring a floor to ceiling window along the front wall with a door in the centre. The south west end of the room also has a floor to ceiling window with a door that opens into the garden. The bedroom has a large shelved airing cupboard and an en-suite bathroom with a corner shower, pedestal sink, toilet and towel radiator. Across the hall are two further bedrooms connected by a glazed bi-fold door. Completing this level is the family bathroom, comprising a large bath, corner shower, pedestal sink and toilet.

First Floor

A staircase ascends to the kitchen/diner on the first floor, where the thoughtful design becomes evident. Here, an impressive vaulted beamed ceiling adorned with exposed stone walls creates a striking feature of this beautiful property. The kitchen is equipped with a range of units offering ample cupboard and drawer space, an inset sink, integrated dishwasher, and room for a Rangemaster stove. This area is perfect for hosting gatherings, with space for a dining table and chairs, and double doors opening into the living room. Underfloor heating enhances the comfort and luxury of the property. The living room also boasts a vaulted beamed ceiling, with a central woodburner set on a stone hearth and built-in units on either side, providing excellent storage options.

Outside

Accessed through the shared courtyard among the three converted barns, you'll find parking and entry to one bay of the carport, along with a handy storage shed. The rear garden enjoys a sunny southwest exposure, overlooking open countryside. Mostly covered in lush lawn, the spacious garden features an array of fruit trees and shrubs, along with a paved patio area adorned with a pergola, perfect for relaxing and savoring summer evenings.

Notes

The courtyard is shared between the 3 converted barns.
There is an annual maintenance payment of £360.
