The Property: This quite exceptional five bedroom converted barn is located in a peaceful and picturesque setting and can be used as one grand house as it has for 36 years, or separated as two dwellings.

Description: This exceptional, detached house is located in Great Gaddesden a picturesque village with a church dating back to before the 12th century and a popular primary school. The rural setting belies the close proximity to the bustling and sought after town of Berkhamsted.

The property has been used as a five bedroom home by the current owner for 36 years but is arranged as two houses, so it can be split into two seperate dwellings.

The house currently has two reception rooms and two kitchens with the convenience of two cloakrooms with w/c's. Stairs on either side of the house lead to the first floor which has five double sized bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and two bathrooms. There is no gas, two electric boilers service the property.

There are gardens at either side of the house the larger of which is south facing. There is a good sized garage and the house has three parking spaces.

We would be delighted to show you this quite unique offering as the house and its surroundings are something to behold.

Location: Great Gaddesden is the most delightful hamlet, built around the historic 12th century church of St John the Baptist. It is steeped in history; the medieval convent of St Margarets, now a Buddhist Monastery, stands to the north-west, while the impressive Palladian country house, Gaddesden Place, is positioned to the east and is often used for filming. Directly adjacent to the church is the lovely Church-of-England primary school, and the hamlet is surrounded by beautiful countryside which is ideal for walkers and horse riding. The clear waters of the River Gade can also be found nearby.

Despite the sense of being very rural, Great Gaddesden is located a short drive from both the sought after market town of Berkhamsted, with its wide range of independent boutiques and restaurants, and the larger town of Hemel Hempstead, boasting a wider selection of shops and facilities. Both towns offer mainline train services direct to London Euston in around 30 minutes.
