Property Details
Why I love it, from the owners
“ What we loved about 64 Gravel Hill when we bought it over 10 years ago & how we have improved it for ours and our families needs.
The perfect location, 10 mins to both Reading & Henley.
Gavin commuted into London at the time, so easy access to Reading station was vital.
It’s walkable & cycle-able, as well as regular bus services or taxis.
Most of our social & family life happens in and around Caversham and Henley, so we’re perfectly placed between them.
I love to walk everyday, The Hemdean Valley and its wide open walks are just yards from the house. Regular routes include walking around and across all 3 local golf courses.
The interior aspects that I fell in love with were the principal suite, and the mezzanine as I always wanted to live in a house with 2 staircases.
Gavin dressed as Santa on the mezzanine has provided 10 magical Christmas Eve’s for our grandchildren.
We’ve enhanced the bare bones that we bought by installing a luxury kitchen with top quality appliances, transforming two small dark separate rooms into a single bright entertaining space.
We Refurbished the bathrooms.
Replaced the tired decking with a beautiful porcelain tiled patio providing the perfect outdoor entertaining space.”
Set in this semi rural location at the end of a ‘no through’country lane, It’s opposite stables and surrounded by open countryside, yet less than 5 mins drive to shops and services. This traditionally built detached home, built in the style and footprint of the Shipnells Dairy that once stood on the plot. It offers flexible accommodation leading from the vaulted hallway, The designer kitchen, dining room and utility room, form the heart of the home. A vaulted ceiling to the living room with spiral stairs leading to a light bright bonus room, which could be used as an office, hobby room or extra bedroom if required. There are 5 bedrooms, The first floor principle suite has an ensuite shower plus a fully fitted dressing room, the 2nd bedroom has a 4 piece ensuite bathroom.
The other 3 bedrooms are served by a further bathroom. One of the bedrooms is currently being used as a snug sitting room, but the options for all 3 of these further bedrooms are limitless. Playroom, teenage den, Man cave, study or office. Or even a ground floor ‘granny annexe’ for multi generational living if required.
