Comment From Robert Reed Of Gascoigne Halman

This first class home is worthy of the highest levels of approbation.
In my career I have been blessed with the privilege of selling outstanding individual homes, often without comparison in their immediate locality. This beautiful individual detached residence certainly fits into that category and is a hugely exciting addition to the market.

The location is here is particularly outstanding with the house being positioned on Raby Road. For those who don¿t know, Raby Road combines the best of both worlds, with walking distance proximity to the village centre providing great convenience and yet a strong sense of the rural with relatively few houses on the lane and open views of countryside to the rear.
In the last seventeen years, the house has been radically transformed and substantially improved, whilst also retaining its fundamental charm, history and character. The most recent change was a magnificent ground floor extension. This area runs along the back of the house, perfectly links to the existing reception rooms and delivers a state of the art contemporary kitchen which perfectly represent the very best in modern day design and finish. It also has direct access to the superbly landscaped and designed rear garden.

In total there are three reception rooms in addition to the amazing open plan kitchen. At first floor level there are four bedrooms, two en suites and a family bathroom. One of the bedrooms, adjoining the principal suite, is presently utilised as a dressing room.

Location

Thornton Hough is a quintessential British village, featuring charming cottages, country pubs, a delightful parish Church and a village green on which sports teams and families play throughout the year.

Both pubs offer home cooked food and the Red Fox is a gastro pub that tourists and people outside the area travel to. Summer or Winter, this is a fabulous place to eat, drink and relax.

You also benefit from the award winning Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa, which has fabulous spa facilities, a welcoming Bar and The Lawn Grill Restaurant is open all year round in a stunning setting.

This historic part of The Wirral was formerly known as Toritone at the time of the Doomsday Book. The village's present name was only established when the daughter of Roger de Thornton, the local landowner, married Richard de Hoghe during the reign of Edward II. This gave way to the name that the village is still known by today, Thornton Hough.

In 1889 the very first Viscount Leverhulme started work on Thornton Hough and some years later he purchased the mansion of Thornton Manor where he settled with his family. He built a school, an orphanage, a Norman style church, shops and a smithy.
