The Norfolk Broads, featuring 25% of UK’s rarest wildlife, have existed across Norfolk and Suffolk since the middle ages - and were actually created by accident. Excavated for peat in Medieval times, which was sold as fuel, the pits were flooded - causing the beauty that exists today. Now, it’s the 3rd largest navigable waterway extending a whopping 125 miles.

Transport in Norwich
Trains
An hour and 45 minutes from London on a direct train from Liverpool Street, Norwich also has links Liverpool, Brighton, Peterborough, Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester.
More locally, regular train services operate to Great Yarmouth, Sheringham, Dereham and Lowestoft.
Buses
Norwich is a city built for walking. But when you need to go further than your legs can carry you, catching the bus is one of the easiest ways to travel around the city and into the county.
With ten different lines across 19 different routes, getting anywhere in Norwich or Norfolk is easy. Local services are run by: Konect, First, Lynx.
Roads
Driving around Norwich is fairly easy - but as with any city, do try to avoid rush hour if you can.
The A11 provides access to London, Cambridge and much of the rest of the UK via the M11 and A14.
The main east-west road link is the A47, which connects to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft to the east.
