Birthplace of famed monarch King Alfred the Great, Wantage is a town steeped in history. This history can be seen in the statue dedicated to King Alfred, commissioned by Lord Wantage in the 19th century, as well as at the Parish Church. Deeper study can also be completed at the Vale and Downland. This museum gives guests an insight into the past and present culture of the town.

More active pursuits can also be undertaken in Wantage, including cycling as part of the Corallian Cycling Club, undertaking swimming and fitness classes at Wantage Leisure Centre, and visiting Betjeman Millennium Park for a day out. A chalkstone stream can also be found at Letcombe Brook, and this is a rare sight for the public.

Education

Wantage is home to several well-regarded primary schools and a well-thought-of secondary school. Standout primary schools include Charlton Primary School, which sits just under a mile from the development, and gems Wantage Primary School. The latter sits just a few hundred yards from the development, making it easy to access for prospective parents and students.

While the town doesn't have its own train station, it does sit close to Didcot Parkway. From here, London Paddington is just over 40 minutes away direct or just over an hour away with a connection at Bristol Parkway.
